May Donation Creation: Habitat for Humanity

May Donation Creation: Habitat for Humanity

And just like that, May is here! A mild winter and a balmy spring is a rare occurance in Central Illinois, and it’s safe to say that we’ve all been loving the extra time outdoors! May promises to bring lots more of that sunshine we love so much, and before we know it, a heat wave will be upon us. For our Donation Creation this month, we’ve chosen to get ahead of that heat: a blended Vanilla Chai Latte!

We introduced this drink as a donation creation last summer and it’s been so popular that we’ve been getting requests for it all year. It’s a simple creation: our organic chai tea concentrate, vanilla bean syrup and frappe mix, and Kilgus Farmstead milk. The black tea base of chai is lighter and less acidic than coffee, keeping you feeling fresh all day, while still giving a kick of caffeine! We top it with real whipped cream and chai spices for a really beautiful beverage!

The best part of our Donation Creation program is that in addition to you enjoying a specially crafted beverage, you can feel great about helping out a local organization doing immense good for Central Illinois. This May, for each blended Vanilla Chai Latte purchased, Eli’s will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Peoria Area to help them in carrying out their mission of elminiating substandard housing, locally and worldwide, through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes. So many communities in our area have been the recipient of a HfH home. The recipient families are often hard at work next to the volunteers to earn the pride of home-ownership when that milestone had previously been a far away dream.

You can stay up to date on upcoming events and volunteer opportunities by visiting their website here. Their next event is a first: an empowering Woman Build volunteer opportunity. They’re kicking off the 2016 Build Season on Friday, May 6th, and every weekend throughout the summer, Volunteer Builds will be held. See their website for a full list and to register! We’re so excited to partner with Habitat for Humanity and share a little more about them throughout the month!
